BABYLON THE GREAT (Part 6)
Get out of Babylon the Great
“And I heard another voice out of heaven say: “Get out of her, my people, if you do not want to share with her in her sins, and if you do not want to receive part of her plagues”” (Revelation 18:4)
Getting out of Babylon the Great, is no longer participating in religious ceremonies that worship other gods than Jehovah, the only true God. Such religious participation amounts to sacrificing to demons (1 Corinthians 10:20–22). Getting out of Babylon the Great, is no longer participating in patriotic ceremonies by singing national anthems and saluting the flag of the country. Getting out of Babylon the Great, is to give up taking arms to wage war and kill our neighbor, in the name of a nationalist and religious patriotism (Matthew 26:52 “Then Jesus said to him: “Return your sword to its place, for all those who take up the sword will perish by the sword””). Continuing to practice such patriotic worship, would ultimately amount to receive the “mark of the wild beast” (Revelation 13:16,17).
Getting out of Babylon the Great, the spiritual city which has challenged the sovereignty of God, is to join, at the same time, the true worship: “Nevertheless, the hour is coming, and it is now, when the true worshippers will worship the Father with spirit and truth, for indeed, the Father is looking for ones like these to worship him. God is a Spirit, and those worshipping him must worship with spirit and truth” (John 4:23,24). Jesus Christ defined the true worship as that directed to his Father, who is Jehovah. In Revelation 18:4, God designates those who are getting out of Babylon the Great and come out of the Great Tribulation to come in the earthly paradise, as being “his people”. In the prophecy of Zechariah, it is symbolically the city of “Jerusalem”: “And I will bring them in, and they will reside in Jerusalem; and they will become my people, and I will become their God in truth and in righteousness” (Zechariah 8:8). According to Revelation, it is the holy city from which those who repent, give glory to God (Revelation 11:2,13).
In the earthly paradise, this holy city will be the New Jerusalem (Revelation 21: 2). Those who call on and think of the name of Jehovah will be saved, by manifesting their faith in the sacrifice of Christ (Joel 2:32 “And everyone who calls on the name of Jehovah will be saved”; Malachi 3:16 “And a book of remembrance was written before him for those fearing Jehovah and for those meditating on his name”; Revelation 7:9–17 “The great crowd that will come out of the great tribulation”; Zechariah 13:8,9 “The great crowd will represent the “third part” of the current humanity, which will survive”).
For those who want to be part of the people of God, let them approach the Christian congregation which fulfills this criterion stated by Jesus Christ: “I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, you also love one another. By this all will know that you are my disciples — if you have love among yourselves” (John 13:34,35).
