MATTHEW 24:29

“Immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken”

The period of Matthew 24:29, which we are currently experiencing, there are the fulfillment of several biblical prophecies:
- (The proclamation of “world peace and security”, at the beginning of 1991)
- (The fulfillment of Daniel 11:45, is the mention of the last period of the prophecy of “king of the north and king of the south”, which precedes the great tribulation: We are there)
- (Gog of Magog’s attack on God’s people)
- (The fall and present destruction of Babylon the Great)
- (The current appearance of the last king, of the last world power, mentioned in Daniel 8: 23–25)

In the question of Matthew 24:3, there are three important words that allow us to understand its meaning and the answer of Christ: The “sign” (σημαίνω (sēmeion) (Strong’s Concordance (G4591)), which has the sense of indication by “things that will take place”. The “sign” refers to two groups of events, stated by Christ: events which show that Christ is present and that he has begun to reign in the heavens (since 1914) (Matthew 24:4–14 and 24:23- 28). The “sign” of the nearness of the end and the end itself (Matthew 24: 15–22 (“sign” focused on the city of Jerusalem) and Matthew 24:29 at 25:46).

“Presence” (πάρειμι) (parousia) (Strong’s Concordance (G3952)): The primary meaning of “presence” for parousia is often translated by words like “the coming”, “the arrival” or “the advent”, which creates confusion. The words “the coming”, “the arrival” and “the advent”, suggest a much shorter space of time than the time of a “presence”, which can be quite long in time. The translation of the Greek word parousia by, “the coming” or “advent”, is all the more inaccurate as this word “coming” corresponds to another Greek word: “Then the sign of the Son of man will appear in heaven, and all the tribes of the earth will beat themselves in grief, and they will see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory” (Matthew 24:30). In this same chapter which answers the same question (in verse 3), the coming of the son of man is translated by the Greek verb “erchomai” (ἔρχομαι (G2064) Strong’s Concordance). Thus the sign or indication of the presence of Christ, would be done over a long period of time, unlike his coming to judge the nations, shortly before the great tribulation, which will be brief: “When the Son of man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit down on his glorious throne” (Matthew 25:31 “comes” (erchomai)). The first presence of Christ took place during the three and a half years of his ministry, from the year 29 to the year 33 (C.E.), until the time of his death. This first presence was discerned by the “eagles”, the disciples who were present especially at the time of his death (Matthew 24:23–28). The second presence of Christ began in 1914, and will end at the end of the thousand-year reign mentioned in Revelation 20:1–6. This second presence was discerned, long before 1914, by “eagles”, a group of disciples of Christ, who has now become several millions insightful Christians (Matthew 24:4–14; Daniel 12:3,10b).

The third important word is “conclusion” or end (συντέλεια (synteleia) (G4930) Strong’s Concordance) of the system of things. So the question is based on future events that would show that we are during the time of Christ’s presence, and the impending end of this system of things. Christ’s answer has two main parts. This end is the great tribulation mentioned in Matthew 24:21,22. And the events which announce the nearness of this end, are described in Matthew 24:15–22, as for the answer focused on Jerusalem and Matthew 24:29, regarding the worldwide events, which will lead to the coming of Christ, described in Matthew 24: 30,31 and 25:31–33. It can be considered to be the second important part of Christ’s response (the first being connected to the sign of his presence).

Jesus Christ is the King of the Kingdom of God, in heaven from 1914

According to the prophecy of Daniel chapter 4, King Jesus Christ began to reign in the midst of his enemies since 1914 (Psalms 2). He will come to judge humanity shortly before the great tribulation (Matthew 25:31–46).

Satan the devil and the demons were expelled from heaven shortly before the heavenly enthronement of King Jesus Christ

The careful study of Revelation chapters 11 and 12 shows that this heavenly war took place shortly before the establishment of the Kingdom of God in heaven. The victory has been celebrated with the enthronement of King Jesus Christ.

The Sign Of The End

A biblical study of Matthew chapter 24 and other parallel passages of the gospels such as Mark 13 and Luke 21, makes it possible to differentiate between the “presence” and the “coming” of Christ, and the “end” of this system of things.

The New Jerusalem

The New Jerusalem is the kingdom of God (Revelation 21:2). The biblical expression “New” leads us to understand, according to what Jesus Christ said in Matthew 24:2, that the current Jerusalem will disappear at the great tribulation.

Peace and security

This worldwide declaration took place on March 6, 1991, by the speech on the “New World Order”. It seems to be the beginning of the time corresponding to the description of Christ, in Matthew 24:29.

The Fulfillment of the Prophecy of Ezekiel, Gog of Magog

The coalition of nations currently attacking the people of God comes from the territorial areas corresponding to “Japheth”, Russia, China some Asian countries, as well as “Cham”, corresponding to some African countries where Christians suffer from severe persecution.

The Prophecy of Daniel of the Two Kings

The Study of the Prophecy of Daniel chapters 11 and 12, about the outcome of the conflict between the king of the north and the king of the south, provides a better understanding of the dramatic events that are currently taking place in the Middle East.

Babylon The Great

It is at the same time a “political” and a “religious” worldwide kingdom, because it symbolizes the human sovereignty which challenged the sovereignty of God on earth.

The Great Tribulation

It is the “end” and the definitive destruction of the present system of things, according to Matthew 24:21 and Daniel 12:1.

In Only One Day

According to the prophecy of Zechariah 14, that the great tribulation will last only one day, in Ethanim, 10 (Tishri) (Jewish Biblical Calendar (September/October)) (Revelation 11:19).

The Planetary Jubilee

The great tribulation will also be the beginning of a planetary jubilee, Ethanim, 10 (Tishri).

The Last King

According to the Prophecy of Daniel 8:23–25, there is the description of the last king (his face and behavior), in the time just before the Great Tribulation.

The cemetery town of Hamonah

The prophecy of Ezekiel 38 and 39 is the description of what will happen soon after the great tribulation.
